First Day of College!

Maki and Erin had to go to an early ASL class so I kind of heard Maki getting up early but I just fell asleep again. :P Woke up around 8:30 and after getting all my stuff ready for class, watched an episode of L&O to relax. I have to admit I was pretty nervous in the morning... :P

As soon as Maki and Erin came home, we all went straight back to campus since Naomi had a meeting with someone. Erin helped Maki with some forms to help in registration and after that, Maki and I headed for our English 100 class. Our teacher is the Swedish woman named Gunnel Lamb-Tamura. She seems like a really nice lady but the type of teacher who won't take any nonsense from anyone. ^_^ Since it was the first day, she paired everyone off with someone they had never met and we were given a little while to talk and get to know one another. I was paired off with this guy named Sterling who is 'haole' but lived the first 16 years of his life in Mexico! So his first language is Spanish and he worked up to ENG100 from ESL22 (English as a Second Language). It was interesting because we got to talk about living in different countries.

The last thing we did was write a one-page paper on our writing backgrounds such as 'what kind of writing do we like', 'what are our writing weaknesses', 'what are our strengths', etc. Class finished at noon so Naomi drove Maki and I home and after lunch I got to work on the homework I already had from English class. Did some of the reading then went back to campus with Maki for the 1:45 Math 100 class. Our teacher's name is Andrew Astromoff and he was a really nice teacher though I don't particularly like math. :P We actually had a full class today; he taught us about inductive and deductive reasoning and had us work in our handbooks so our class ended as scheduled at 3:00.

Since Maki was done for the day, we parted ways and she stopped by the bookstore to buy some books while I headed over to the 'chapel' for my ballet class. My teacher, Sharon, is a really upbeat type of person and full of energy. I really like her and since she's also a teacher of 'Logic and Reasoning', she teaches ballet in very simple and 'logical' terms. We didn't actually do much of actual ballet though we went through some of the basic movements.

So, I was all done for the day at 4:30. Naomi picked me up and as soon as I got home and started on my homework. I worked on my English 'exercises' and finished just in time for dinner. Naomi made New England corn beef which was very good; my first time to try it!

Right after dinner it was time to get my math homework finished. Quite a bit of reading to do and though there weren't too many questions to answer and all of them not too hard, all of it was time consuming. You know my personality; check, check over, re-check, then finally browse through everything once more. :P At least I finished in a little less than an hour!

Around 8:30, Naomi took Maki and me to Long's Drugstore because we needed more notebooks and folders for class. Got home and after finishing off a few of my math questions which I hadn't finished, Naomi and I relaxed in front of the tv and watched an episode of L&O. A VERY good episode, one which kept me on the edge of my seat. You know, the type of episode where you KNOW the guy is guilty but because of 'legalities' he might get off free! Well, thankfully, the jury convicted him of all charges and he went to prison.

It was nice because I was able to talk to both my parents today on the phone! ^_^ It's nice to get encouragement about school and to know that they are proud of me. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me about my starting college; it's finally started and though I'm still a bit 'nervous' about the whole thing, a lot of the anxiety is gone now that it's begun. Tomorrow's another first day since I'll be having History and ASL class, both which I'm looking forward to!

Hardly any pictures at all today! :S Here's a picture of Bianca trying to kill Sophie. lol!
