Glory Road

I must say, this morning started off by giving me quite a fright! When I opened up my laptop, it couldn't boot into Windows XP! It felt awful having your computer act up like that and not be able to start at all! So I was a little miserable in the morning.

Erin, Maki and I decided to go to watch Glory Road starring the wonderful, wonderful Josh Lucas. ^_^ It's a Jerry Bruckheimer movie and very similar to Remember the Titans as in that it's a sports movie (basketball for Glory, football for Titans), deals with having blacks on the sport teams, and the team making it to the top, showing the world that it's not about the color of skin. Met up with Ericson at the theater, making it just in time for the movie to start. :P I must say, it was a fantastic movie and just as good as Remember the Titans. The team consists of college students instead of high school students so the characters are a little bit more 'mature' (though the teasing between the players are pretty hilarious!). However, because the story deals with more 'adults' than high school students, some of the racial prejudices and hatreds were pretty intense compared to Titans. Very 'real' if you know what I mean; some parts were really scary and frightening.

One thing I liked best I think was the spectacular cinematography, especially during the basketball scenes. Very well done. The acting was also well done, especially like I mentioned the fabulous Josh Lucas. ^_^

After the movie, Ericson left and the rest of us went to Borders to do some shopping. I found a nice 365 day calendar called "The Duh Awards" for a VERY good price. I also got 501 Must-See Movies for a VERY reasonable price; only $9! And it's a really, really thick book with pictures and everything, too! I haven't really read it but I flipped through it and I'm happy to know that I know most all the movies in the book. :P At least, if I haven't seen the movie I definitely know about it.

Also, I've decided to take up a new fun hobby... juggling! Ok, I know that might be considered 'odd' but after trying juggling with the 'otedama' my mother gave me, at Borders I got a cheap 'Jugglers Set' and I've decided to try it out.

Stopped by Office Depot and I was able to get a nice monthly/weekly date book. It's hard to find just the right one... there are SOOO many choices!

Went home and found that Naomi had worked on my computer and she was able to start it up! It's fixed right now but just in case it happens again, I spent most of the rest of the afternoon making backups of ALL my files... which was quite a lot of work I must say. :P

For dinner we had salmon, rice, and salad; at the salmon with a new miso sauce Naomi tried making for the first time and it was really, REALLY good! ^_^ The rest of the evening I worked on my juggling (I can pretty much juggle three balls now!), did some more homework, and relaxed at the computer. SOOO happy that my computer is fixed! I wouldn't know what to do withou it! (scary thought...)

Tomorrow's Sunday then in the afternoon we're invited to Bella's birthday party! Sounds like a full day tomorrow! ^_^
