Might Becoming Addicted to Ballet and Fuseball...

This morning I woke up at 8:30 and remembering that I had drum class from 9:00, quickly got ready. Erin was nice enough to drop me off at the church. Today, besides Shouko and Charisses, Dave was also there as well as Linda, who is only learning to play the tamberine. Joe was really great today, teaching so much. He brought some really cool music to play along with. Dave and I were fooling around but it was all lots of fun. Dave voiced my thoughts exactly... "I wanna be like Joe!" (as in want to play as good as Joe, but that's far off in the future...)

Got home and I was sooooo hungry that I immediately ate lunch. Then I watched my DVD ballet performance of Don Quixote, performed by the American Ballet Threatre company. Mikhail Baryshnikov directed, choreographed, and played the principle part!! *sigh* I was completely mesmerized by the show; it's not exactly 'classical ballet'. The dances were fast and the variation by Baryshnikov were simply fabulous. The Pas de deux (dance for two) with Baryshnikov and the Prima ballerina was also good. There were some really hilarious parts, particularly when Baryshnikov's charactere pretends to kill himself. Maki and I were laughing soo much! His expression was soo funny! Now I want to watch other ballets, in particular The Nutcracker, Giselle, and Carmen.

I started working on the history of Don Quixote part my for ballet essay. I finished that and decided to work on my commentary on it another time. A little later, Naomi, Maki and I went to Costco. I got a few things, including a huge fluffy, blue pillow that feels sooo good (it's actually quite long but I'm scrunching it up for the picture)! I've been wanting to get it but for the past few visits to Costco they didn't have the blue one. So hurray, I've finally got it!

Got home and worked on my craft. ^_^ REALLY getting into it. I also started on my deaf event report. There's really no deadline for it so I didn't do too much. Just got a feel for what I will write. :P

For dinner we had lau lau, a Hawaiian dish which is a type of meat (chicken in our case) cooked inside these edible leaves. Very 'interesting' food. I loved the soy-sauce flavored cook asparagus. Asparagus mesa likey!!

Tonight from 7:00 to 10:00 Ericson had planned a special college event at the church. College students were all invited, and he, Matt, and Ardell were in charge of getting everything set up. First of all we played a type of scavenger hunt where we had to take pictures of different things that were on a piece of paper. Things like 'a white arrow', 'a bright green person', 'a cat', 'four team members on swings', 'multiple people doing cartwheels', etc. Lots of fun; Yuriy, Shouko, Kaori, and Bao were in my group and we did pretty well though we came in last but I have a 'sneaky suspicion' that the other teams didn't exactly 'follow the rules'. :P But it was all fun.

Then we played the 'newspaper' game which the kids at KCIS had taught Ericson. :P It's quite different from our version back in Japan; KCIS students are soooo much faster. :P lol!

Then he had snacks and had time to mingle. First off, Maki and I played against each other teaming with Nick and Bao on the ping-pong table. My team won!! Yay! Then Ardell, Jin, Yuriy, and I started playing Fuseball, with Matt watching over us and rooting each team at random. My first time to play but it was so much fun! Lost once with Yuriy, then won once with Ardell. Then Ardell and Erin teamed up while I played with Yuriy. Yuriy and I won three in a row, then lost to Ericson and Ardell in the end. Of course, Ericson has been playing for a LOOOOOONG time on this particular game table... :P Advantage! Just a thought, we need a Fuseball table at our house. :P What fun, and perfect because there's the four of us!

Got home and talked with my parents for quite a while. I was so excited to hear that the sign dance went so well! Hugs to everyone involved! I heard there were a few 'incidents', once when they thought that they had forgotten one of the crates. :P That would have made me go totally berserk... lol! But I'm just so pleased that you were able to do it and that the choreography went so well.

Off to bed, tomorrow's Sunday and looking forward to 'perhaps' a relaxing day. ^_^ Good night!
