Full Day
Today was History class in the morning so went there and got my quiz back from last week. Unfortunately, I didn't get 5/5 as I thought I would, I missed one question. But the thing was, the answer was technically correct, so after class I asked Mr. Cassity about it. He said it wasn't as indepth as he wanted it to be but after looking it over, and seeing that I understood the question, he gave me an extra half point. ^_^ So close to perfect, just a little 'laconic', I word he used to describe how we shouldn't be in answering our questions.
Anyway, today's class was on Early Egyptian Civilization which I enjoyed (I've always liked and enjoyed History). From next we're going to start talking about... Hebrew history!! That should be quite interesting, taking on subjects like Moses, the 10 Commandments, God's covenant with his chosen people... it should be interesting how history on this subject is taught in the non-Christian world.
Again got a chance to talk with Nichelle after class before heading home. Got home and made a delicious hamburger. Sorted out a lot of my I-Tunes music, trying to rate my songs and fill out all the music info: artist name, album name, music genre, etc.
Naomi and I went for ASL class and since next class is our first quiz, today was mostly reviewing everything we've learned. I think I'll do ok but I just don't know how well I'll do. I'm no perfectly optmistic, so I'll just say again that I think I'll do well.
Class finished early as usual so when I got home, I worked on filling out blank maps which Mr. Cassity gave us. We're having a map quiz in a few weeks and to help prepare he gave us two blank maps which will be the quiz and a piece of paper listing all the names of places we should be familiar with, as well as know where they are. So filling out the maps took a while because some of the places weren't in my history book so I had to find the locations through the Internet. But as I said, I like history and maps so this was fun.
I ate an early dinner by myself because tonight I was invited to join Kaimuki Church's music practice tonight! Got to the church around 6:20 and the people there were Tony and Jenny, Joe (of course), John (another drummer), Carl (the bass player), Josh (a different Josh from the one who came to Japan), Rose (a really fun and 'vibrant' woman who has a beautiful voice), and Jin (a UH student). I'm not going to be playing this week's services but they asked me to play some of the songs to try out playing with the group. I was realllllly nervous but Joe was there right beside me the whole time and encouraging and giving tips so I didn't too badly. lol! But everyone complimented me, saying that I really have a 'rock-steady beat'. ^_^ I give all the credit to Mrs. Imamura who made sure to instill in my head that to be a drummer, it was essential to keep a steady beat or I'll mess up everybody else. :P So thank you!
It was a really fun practice and they made sure to make me comfortable which I'm very thankful. One of the things that was the hardest in playing the drums is that the drumset is behind the worship leader. Meaning that I can't really catch his cues and I can't read his lips so I can't tell if he's going to repeat a chorus or go back to the verse or not. But I was able to follow along and this way actually made me really sensitive to the worship leader. So it was a very good experience.
One of the most fun songs I did was actually a slow song, but one where Joe told me to use all the cymbals. I've come to really like using many different cymbals, using different sounds to make my own sort of 'melody'. It's really, REALLY fun to do that!!
Tony and Jenny were kind enough to take me home after the practice, after I helped in putting away a puppet stage Jenny and her students had built this morning. Got home and tonight, Christie started having a Bible study held at our house. I missed most of it because I didn't get home around 8:10 or so. Then I saw that I had a chat message from the kids back in Japan so I got to see the last part of their dress rehearsal of their sign dance. It's looking really good, though it was funny to see how nervous Maria was looking. :P
Christie and another girl, Jamie, left then after doing some other work, I talked a bit with Daddy on the phone. I'm really missing everyone back home right now. :P Naomi and I went to Long's Drugstore and we found this really cool craft to do! I'm going to keep it a surprise for now of what it is; I promise I'll show you when we're done!!
It's realllly getting late. Thank goodness no morning class tomorrow! I'm probably going to go to Heather's house to babysit Malia and Bella, so it'll be nice getting out of the house. Then I have a ballet class in the afternoon, then in the evening we four girls might have some kind of plans. Well, good night, sorry no pictures... ^_^
